Future Center

The purpose of the Future Center is to provide resources for parents and students to research options for life after graduation. The center maintains media from colleges, tech schools, career and military avenues. We provide access to college/career internet sites, and assist the guidance office in maintaining a scholarship and summer opportunities file.

The Future Center is staffed by parent volunteers who are available to direct students to the Center's resources and suggest strategies in exploring career and college options. Parent volunteers receive training with the help of the guidance staff and former Future Center volunteers.

The Center is Monday through Thursday during all four lunch periods from 10:30 am -12:45 pm and on Tuesdays after school between 2:15 pm and 3:1 pm or by appointment. The center maintains media from colleges, tech schools, career and military avenues. We provide access to college/career internet sites, college reference catalogues, multimedia, viewbooks and applications and financial aid information.

Parents, please encourage your students to take advantage of this valuable resource center. Parents are also welcome.

The Center is located in the Administration Building, in the Guidance lobby across from the Attendance Office.

Resources include:

• Computers for exploring online resources and suggested sites to access information on interest inventories, careers, schools, school applications, financial aid, summer jobs, etc.
• Files containing view books and applications for many colleges and universities. These items may be taken home by students.
• CD's and videos for many colleges and universities enabling a virtual visit which may be checked out.
• College catalogues detailing courses, majors, and graduation requirements which may be checked out.
• Reference materials on 4 year colleges, 2 year colleges, and technical schools including indexed lists of majors and courses of study by major by state.
• Information on military careers and colleges
• Back issues of the Senior Stang, Myers Park's scholarship newsletter, and access to the scholarship files. The Senior Stang will also be posted on this website beginning in September.
