North Carolina School of Science and Math

All graduates of NCSSM will be granted full tuition waivers upon acceptance at any of the 16 LTNC System schools.

For those of you not familiar with the North Carolina School of Science and
Mathematics, we are a residential high school established in 1978 by the North Carolina General Assembly for academically talented 11th and 12th grade students. There is no
cost for tuition, room, board, or books-although parents or legal guardians must be legal residents of North Carolina by December 1st of the applicant's sophomore year. Students are selected through a comprehensive application process during their 10th grade year. Applicants must demonstrate a high aptitude and strong interest in science and mathematics. They must also show potential for exceptional development through participation in a residential setting. The curriculum and graduation requirements of NCSSM include outstanding courses in the humanities and the arts as well as in science and math. In addition, NCSSM offers extracurricular and social opportunities similar to most high schools (including a variety of student clubs and interscholastic athletics). The school's intent is to prepare leaders educated and sensitive to the needs of a global society.

Interested students should take the SAT in October, November, December or January of their sophomore year. ETS has assigned NCSSM a special program code Number 2241. Students should use their home high school code in Block 5 and NCSSM's special program code in Block 11A when completing the SAT registration form.
